Teachers are employed for their love, knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment to children. We pride ourselves on the quality of our staff and are committed to providing teachers with professional development opportunities that further develop their skills and knowledge. Most of our teaching staff hold early childhood education qualifications and participate in ongoing training to further grow their skills.All staff are police checked.
We have over 1,700 permanent teachers nationally. In addition we have a pool of approximately 200 casual (temporary) staff.
Over 90% of our permanent teaching staff are either fully qualified with a Diploma or Bachelor of Teaching (ECE), or higher, or are in training. These figures are very high by national standards within the ECE sector. In addition, we provide a two year Advice and Guidance Programme for all recently graduated teachers so that mentoring and further training is provided post graduation; this supports teachers from provisional registration to full teacher registration with the NZ Teachers Council.
