Our Kindergarten is located on Te Rapa Road, opposite Bunnings. You can access us via the service lane by the Garnett Avenue and Te Rapa road intersection. We are in the big blue building next door to Dive H2O!
Te Rapa Community Kindy offers both sessional and full day programmes for children from 2-6 years. We have a team of passionate qualified teachers who know and understand about child development and how to maximise children’s learning potential.
Children of today are our future leaders and they will need to work, live and use technology about which we have never heard. The dispositions for life they will need to succeed include; being curious, interested, articulate, independent, persevering, taking responsibility, asking questions, developing theories, imagining possibilities and using technology. At our Kindergarten, your child will have every opportunity to further develop these dispositions.
Children learn through every day play. Our teachers will promote and extend children’s thinking. Maths, science, technology, literacy, the arts, music, gardening, taking care of animals and physical education are all important aspects of our programme.
We work in partnership with families/whanau and our local community. We recognise and value parent’s ideas and encourage them to participate in the centre environment.
Local primary schools in the area are: Vardon, Pukete, Te Rapa, St Peters Chanel and Forest Lake Primary. We have information about these schools and their vision and values. Our transition to school programme includes visits to local primary schools.
We have very good assessment techniques and will provide you with extensive written and photographic material indicating your child’s learning as well as regular parent / teacher interviews. Every day, teachers will be glad to see and talk to you; we welcome your contribution to your child’s education at Kindergarten.
We also provide swimming lessons as an extra curricular activity for your children and regular planned excursions. Regular library visits are a highlight for over 2 year olds.
