For happy confident learners
First Steps Mount Maunganui is a quality childcare centre situated in the sunny Bay of Plenty’s Mt Maunganui. We are close to the ‘Bayfair’ shopping complex and the beach.
Our centre offers both morning and afternoon sessions, as well as all-day care for children aged 3 months to 5 years in separate age-appropriate areas. The three different age areas are the Pukeho’s Nest, the Kea Kids room, and the Kakapo Sanctuary. We believed theses areas foster constructive age-appropriate development and learning.
The Pukeho’s Nest is our room for babies and toddlers aged under 2 years. There is an enclosed area suitable for our younger babies to allow them their own space to play and develop.
Our Kea Kids room is for children aged over 2 years of age. This allows for children to experience language, literacy, music and movement.
Our Kakapo Sanctuary is our exciting preschool programme for 4 year old children. Here your child will learn and develop all the skills they will need for school.
We offer a range of extra curriculum activities at First Steps Mount Maunganui which include a gym programme (Gymini’s), library visits and swimming lessons at a nearby swimming complex – the biggest in our wonderful city.
Our qualified caring teachers tailor your child’s education and care to the child’s individual interests and development. We know how to support your child in their learning and extend though planned and spontaneous experiences.
We have safe off-street parking for parents to get their children to and from the car.
We invite you to meet our team of friendly teachers and watch how they
extend, stimulate and motivate the children in their care. Pop in and see what a quality daycare centre with an interactive environment looks like. Come see what great learning toys and equipment your child could benefit from.
What else you can expect from our childcare centre:
• A planned programme reflects children’s current interests.
• Nutritious meals prepared on site each day.
• Friendly and approachable staff.
• Individual portfolios for each child.
• Quality teacher ratios of 1:4 for under two’s and 1:8 for over two’s.
Parent Feedback:
"Thank you very much for your kind help for Lucy. Today is Lucy's last day at Kindy and I want to thank you for many things. Lucy was really happy with the life there, she is happy with her teachers and friends there and I am also very satisfied with your well organised system and teachers who are always smiling at us. Lucy is going to primary school now and I believe she will get better both in speaking English and manners which she learned at your kindy. Thank you again! I wish you all the best" - April 2012
"Just a wee note to say thank you so much for looking after our Luca for the past 3 and half years. She has been so happy to come, she loves all her teachers and has great friends at First Steps. Logan and I have recommended you to friends any chance we get as the atmosphere is really a good one and we have felt really comfortable knowing she is happy and well cared for. Thank you so much!"- January 2012
"My first impression of the centre was great. It was clean, well presented and the staff was extremely helpful, friendly and professional. Children are extremely well taken care of and seemed very happy and very amused. I am really looking forward to my son starting here and I can't wait to watch him thrive in such a nurturing environment. Its a credit to all staff, their hard work is evident in the high standard of this childcare facility" - January 2012
