First Steps Railway Road
is a new purpose built centre which operates for children from 3 months to 5 years.
We have a fantastic teaching team who are committed to excellence and create a fun and exciting atmosphere through trust and respectful relationships.
The centre is set in a rich natural environment with rural outlooks, and wonderful safe car parking facilities.
We provide learning opportunities for children to gain the skills and knowledge required to reach their full potential through positive guidance, language, experiences and relationships.
We celebrate children's individuality.
What else you can expect from our childcare centre:
• 20 ECE programme
• Nutritional meals cooked on site daily
• Stimulating natural outdoor environment
• Quality teacher to child ratios 1:4 under 2 and 1:8 over 2
• Qualified experienced teachers
• Learning areas for each age
• Individual Portfolios
• Edible garden grown by children
• Planning that reflects children's interests
The above video shows the teachers co-constructing with the children to form meaning and building knowledge about the world. When a child is contributing, they feel responsible for others and their own learning. In this clip, the children are gaining skills like rhythm, tempo and how to use an instrument, new waiata, turn taking, coordination and spatial awareness (finding room to join the group).
Parent Feedback:
"First Steps Railway Road we love coming here with special thanks to Jackie (Nathan Te Mana's key teacher), Holly and Tracey and all the other teachers in the babies room! My boy has come on so much in the time he has been attending and gets so excited everytime we pull up. First class care from First Steps Railway Road! x" - May 2012
"I am a Granny of a child in the Babies Room at First Steps Railway. I thought I would write a quick note to express my gratitude of the fantastic experiences, above and beyond the 'classroom' that you are providing my granddaughter with. I was pleasantly surprised to get a phone call from my 22 month old granddaughter last week. On the end of the phone a giggling Isla told me "Horse, Granny horse. Big, big feet, tail". I was impressed with her descriptive language and clarity. Her mother filled in the gaps and let me know of a horse that visited the centre. Isla had been so excited she needed to share this experience with me. A big thumbs up to Jackie who I was told organized for the horse to come in. Thank you First Steps Railway Road teachers" - April 2012
"I would like to
bring to your attention the outstanding way in which the centre staff
and management assisted me in helping my child settle in, special
attention was given to my son to settle him in even though this was
clearly time-consuming. Additionally as it became upsetting for me, it
was ensured that I was also supported. I would like
to pass on my sincere gratitude to Kay, Tracy and Holly for making a
difficult few days manageable. However while I pass on my appreciation
and thanks in relation to this particular incident, it should not be
overlooked that the daily transitioning and overall care from all the
staff is worthy of commendation. I am truly grateful for the wonderful
care you provide!" - February 2012
