Welcome to Rainbow Inglewood.
Our centre is naturally warm and inviting. We're lucky to be right in the middle of town, within a small farming community and only 15 minutes from New Plymouth. It makes for a friendly community where everyone knows each other. Many locals are very familiar with our centre - it was once the old Council building, although the voices in it now are a lot different to what it has heard!. The large sprawling Lockwood building, with all its timber is naturally warm and inviting.
We have three individual centres within the building: an Infants 0-18mths centre, a Toddlers 18mths -3 years and a Preschool centre for 3-5 year olds.
Each of our centre teachers are warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about the education and well-being of children. We want you to feel welcome and we are easily approachable. We genuinely care about your child's wellbeing and together, with you, we want to support them to be independent and confident learners of the future.
The Inglewood Infant Centre has adopted a primary caregiving system that has been working extremely well for our under two's and has been commented on by our parents and fully supported. Our primary caregiving system means that new children and existing children have a nominated or parent chosen immediate caregiver who meets that child's needs and learning outcomes every day that the child attends. This role for teachers is that they feed, change and interact with their child, and can learn to better read their child's cues and respond more intuitively to make it a more enjoyable and settled experience. This has ensured a better bonding with the childs teacher and better settling into the centre for each child.
This was more than evident through our ERO report in January 2011 where comments made by reviewers were that children's "early education is well supported by nurturing adults" and that "Professional Practice and commitment by educators to work in partnership with families effectively guide teaching and learning" and that "toddlers are secure and trusting and infants enjoy genuine one to one engagement with their primary caregiver".

A happy Parent from Rainbow Inglewood, New Plymouth wrote this Thank You note to the teachers:
"We would like to acknowledge the teaching and guidance that staff have provided our children, especially Diane. She has always been professional and supported our high expectations of our children and ensured that there has been a seamless flow from home to Rainbow with these expectations. Both of our children are prepared for school and a significant part of this is due to the work of Diane and the staff. Thank you to all the staff at Rainbow Inglewood." - November 2011
