Top Kids Virginia Ave is a baby care and preschool centre located in Eden Terrace/Newton, Auckland City. We are easily accessible from all motorways, surrounding suburbs and are close to the city.

We offer a range of quality childcare and education options to cater to your needs. Our childcare centre provides top quality teaching services with a safe and fun learning environment, where children are exposed to new experiences and have the opportunity to develop close bonds with other children and their teachers.

Nutritious meals are provided for children that cater to their growth and development needs. We also cater to the cultural and allergy sensitive needs of our children.

On 26th and 27th of January 2011 Topkids Virginia Ave had representatives from ERO (Education Review Office) review centres 1&2, 4 and 5. During the feedback meeting some of the comments ERO made are listed below:

• "it is heartening to see an inner city childcare centre working well, there is a lot of heart and energy withing the centres"
• "the environment has a sense of magic about it"
• "centres are attractive and stimulating and children appear to be established in their routines
• "children appear to feel safe and confident in their environment and in their teachers"
• "all children are included, they have a good opportunity to explore with a strong sense of accomplishment"
• "teachers like children and give a nice sense of wanting to be here"
• "there is a strong management structure committed to support the teams"

A Message from the Parents

 "Thanks for providing another lovely update on our boy Bayley. Both Matt and I really enjoy hearing about his growth and development. We are grateful that Bayley has such amazing teachers in Centre 4. In particular Raewyn who provides such good tips when it comes to negotiating with our cheeky 2 year old! Your practical guidance is very much appreciated." - March 2012

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Centre 3 Management for the Makaton evening that they hosted recently. My son Harry has language, and possibly cognitive delays, and right from the outset, the staff at Topkids have been so supportive and accommodating, willing to work with us, his speech therapists and Early Intervention specialists, to ensure the best possible outcomes for him.

In terms of the Makaton evening, all of the staff at the Centre stayed late, making for a very long day, and yet they were all so interested and engaged, and came up with some really interesting ideas of how Makaton could help Harry. They had invited his speech therapists, who gave us a presentation on the history of Makaton, and a preliminary lesson.

The Centre 3 staff then came up with a number of ways in which Makaton could be used around the Centre and how they could support what we were doing at home. Their ideas were innovative and enthusiastic, and they were clearly relishing the opportunity to learn and discuss how this could help not just Harry, but other students, those for whom English is a second language, for example. During the course of the evening, my focus had been on how Makaton could help Harry communicate with us, when Kim noted that this would also help the other students “talk” to Harry, and help him forge bonds and friendships with other students, I got a definite lump in my throat!

Harry has really bonded with the staff at Topkids, and looks forward to going every day. We have been able to see the difference in him since he has been going, he has become much more co-operative, shows a greater understanding of what is happening around him, and his social skills have improved markedly. That all of this has been achieved in an environment in which he is so happy, is a testament to the wonderful management and staff, and to their absolute commitment to do their best for their students.
